My opinion on the movie oliver twist
The camera cuts away from a key murder, showing only a pool of blood under a door.
Moral of the story oliver twist
The performances are more vivid and edgy than we might suspect; Kingsley's Fagin is infinitely more complex than in the usual versions. I enjoyed it. There is nothing special here. I also got the feeling that Polanski for this reason didn't want to have a graphic death for Nancy. Good not great. Some good, some poor, but none quite as believable as Barney Clark. Fagin has been condemned to death.
Another time he backhands her to the floor. Somewhere beyond he is smiling because Polanski captures the grand scope of the film and maintains its intimacy throughout.
Oliver twist conclusion
The line "You were kind to me" is not a sentimental addition intended to soften the ending, but proceeds, I believe, directly from Polanski's heart, and is a clue to why he wanted to make the movie. He always believes the best will come of everything, and he possesses a sincere sorrow at the choices made by some of his companions. Beyond that, there are multiple instances of punches thrown, kicks unleashed and objects thrown. Brownlow and friends toast with wine. The performances are more vivid and edgy than we might suspect; Kingsley's Fagin is infinitely more complex than in the usual versions. Please share it with family and friends who would benefit from it as well. No matter. The most compelling part of the film is actually the end credits, where the stylized sets give way to bleak, historical drawings of the prisons and gallows so instrumental in the plot. In the end Polanski knows and Dickens asserts that individual decency and humanity alone provide hope. After being mistreated by the family that has taken him in, Oliver runs away and walks the 70 miles to London, where he encounters conditions more squalid than what he had just left. There are many people that will call this a masterpiece and sing its praises. Police shoot at Sykes as he flees across a rooftop.
Excellent adaptation gtzam 11 November Roman Polanski's film is an authoritative take on Dickens' classic. Brownlow, comes to his defense.

We all know the story, know where it is going and how it will get there. The art direction and cinematography are oil paintings in motion.
My only quibble with this version is that the Nancy isn't as compassionate as the the Nancy played by Shani Wallis in the film musical.
